Schools thrive when parents, guardians, and the community are actively involved. WGEd has a wide variety of volunteer opportunities at WGMS and WGHS for parents, guardians, and community members. Jobs are available at varying levels of time commitment, skill level, and interest to suit your needs.
Registering with SJUSD as a Volunteer
If you plan to volunteer on campus during school hours, you must register as a volunteer with SJUSD each year and receive an official email from the district confirming your clearance. This process is the same for the entire district and can take several weeks, especially at the beginning of the school year, so please begin the process as early as possible.

Willow Glen Tasting & Auction
Join the team to continue making our largest social FUNdraiser successful! We need help with our Auction Production and Solicitation, support of our Ticket Sales Management team, Volunteer Coordinators, and general helping hands. We are also looking for Fun with Friends event hosts as well as items for our auction. Email our Tasting lead to find out more about opportunities and sign up.
WGMS Student Store
Help work the middle school student store during the lunch hour, selling snacks to the kids. The shift is from 12:30pm to about 2:00 with one other volunteer. The best part of this job is seeing the kids and spending time with another volunteer. Volunteers for this job must be pre-approved with SJUSD. To find out more or sign up, email our store lead.
WGMS Copy Cats
Volunteer to make copies for teachers on Fridays in the copy room. You do not have to commit to working every week. Training is provided. Sign up to help with this easy, but very helpful job. Volunteers for this job must be pre-approved with SJUSD.
WGMS 8th Grade Dance Leads – This is an important one! The previous year’s super star parents will be on deck to pass along info to help get you started.
Bilingual Outreach
If you’re bilingual, this is an opportunity to support our diverse community. Help with print communications or speaking with parents at school events, such as WEB Day and Back to School Night.
Volunteer with Willow Glen Cares

Photographer
We need nice quality photos of the many things that WGEd hosts/funds. The photographer would be responsible for attending events to capture nice quality photos that could be used for our website, social media, brochures, annual report, etc. The volunteer for this job must be pre-approved with SJUSD.
Volunteers Director
This WGEd board member expands and manages the foundation’s volunteer network by recruiting, maintaining a contact database, and coordinating volunteers to meet event/project needs.
